Happy Day

Why is this boy so smiley??

Because this girly girl dollhouse (mine from when I was a kid)

was transformed

into his very own barn

to keep all his stuffed sheep in!

Sheesh

Just went on what should be called a blogging bender. I think I just posted, 4, no maybe 5 blog posts. Either way it was a lot to do in one sitting. I think I'll call it a night. No need to blog for another few weeks now!

Home-ifying

Found these awesome car themed shelves from a consignment store last weekend. So cute! Matt put them up in Sawyer's room over the weekend.

And no, that is not man cologne on the small red shelf. That would be a room freshener that is much needed because the Soy boy really knows how to stink up his room during the night. P.U.

My Aunt Linda had given me this boat shelf that she had used in her bathroom decor before. I gave it a fresh coat of paint: grey on the inside and a turquoise on the outside called Santa Monica blue. Very fitting since I want this bathroom to have a beach theme. I have my eye on the cutest vintage looking beach shower curtain at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Plus a beach theme is the perfect way to showcase the shells we had collected and brought back from Australia. Some of the ones on the boat are actually Linda's from the Oregon Coast, but no one needs to know that. Except I just told you. Shoot.

And then this is the light in our stairway that is so teensy tiny. I have high hopes of trading out that little guy for a big black chandelier or lantern. How am I affording to do all these purchases and revamps that I have in mind? I forgot to mention that I'm doing hair again to fuel this little house decorating habit.  Let me know if are in need of highlights, a haircut, color, you name it. I've got lots of projects that need  funding! :)

Peanut, Peanut Butter!

And no jelly!
Just the creamy, dreamy peanut butter. Sawyer's affection for Skippy has been mounting the past few days.

So much so that he prefers to eat it right out of the jar one delicious spoonful at a time.
No bread required.

I convince myself that it's okay since he IS getting protein, but in reality it's just that I can't say no to this sticky little face. Plus being a peanut butter enthusiast myself I can't really blame him!

Transformations

Remember how I mentioned Matt got me some spray paint for Mother's day? Well, I have gone through those three cans and then some. I've officially become a spray paintin' fool. We had bought this coffee table and some end tables a while ago from a family friend for dirt cheap and I visions of them in white dancing around my head.  I forgot to take a before photo, but the coffee table is the one Sawyer is coloring on below so that gives you an idea what it looked like before it got bedazzled with RustOleum's Heirloom white.

A little sanding here, a little spraying there, and some extra sanding to give it a sort of distressed look and voila! It's like a totally different table!

Didn't need to worry about doing too much distressing to it since this little guy and his toy cars took care of that part. Not to self: spray on a coat of sealer afterwards. After the table being used as a round race track hundreds of times since this photo was taken, we may have to spray on more touch up paint and will be sure seal it that time!!

Check out this little table.
Before:

A can of turquoise and some new knobs later and I've got myself a super cute stand up jewelry box!

I'm having so much fun, can you tell?? Maybe too much fun!

Discovery Center

Friday, which was our actual anniversary, Matt had taken the day off of work. We had just bought a Groupon coupon for the Discovery Center downtown so we decided to take Sawyer. I remember this place being super cool as a kid. Either it's not that fun now that I'm an adult, or it is in fact just not that cool to begin with. Either way it was kind of a bust. A lot of the science-y stuff was way over his head (not that Matt didn't have fun with a LOT of it!)

One part had a pretend veterinarian clinic for little kids. Sawyer made sure the dogs weren't malnourished.

And then tried to adopt them.

There was also a pretend grocery store that he played around in for a while. He bought some onions, sausage, and bread. Definitely a man's meal.

Outside the center is a bridge that takes you over to a park near the river. Rather than have spent the money on the Discovery center tickets we should have just brought him to the park for free!

Not only were there toys to play on, but also geese to play with.

Too bad they didn't want to play.

Happy Rocznica

Wonder what rocznica is? It's polish for anniversary! Happy anniversary to my bestie Matt and I. Five years ago on May 20th I took not only Matt as my husband, but also his Polish last name Koprowski as my own to forever spell out and tell people how to correctly pronounce it. I've become quite good at explaining how it's spelled just like it sounds: Ko (like Co but with a K) -Prow-Ski. And thankfully with it's nine letters I can break it down into three trio's of letters when spelling it out over the phone to schedule appointments, K-O-P,  R-O-W,  S-K-I. And now you all know how to pronounce and spell our last name.

To celebrate just the two of us, my parents watched Sawyer for us. The Soy boy did
THIS.

And THIS.

While were were doing THIS.

First we walked around the farmer's market in downtown Boise snacking on samples, watching the kids run through the fountains at the Grove and thinking how we needed to take Sawyer back there sometime. Then starting at Anne Morrison park we rode the green belt alongside the river for nine miles.

And lastly, we stopped in at the Ram for a celebratory lunch of their incredibly scrumptious peanut butter burger and their mile high Mud Pie for dessert. I was so full when we got back I couldn't even think about food until this morning. Really.

It was fun getting to hang out together during the daylight hours instead of just going for a movie and dinner at night. Without getting too mushy, I'm so thankful I married Matt five years ago. God placed him into my life at the perfect moment and since then life has never been better!  I'm so glad to be Kristen Marie Koprowski.
Plus it's fun to say.
 Seriously, try it :)

Bye Bye Binky

This Tuesday is a monumental day. It will be the two week mark of Sawyer being binky free!! We had procrastinated on taking his beloved paci away for fear that all hell was going to break loose when we did. So we waited, and waited and tentatively would take them away only to see him later in the day with one bobbing in his mouth that he searched out and found somewhere. We were going to have to do all or nothing if it was going to stick.  With the help of all the comments my friends and family made on Facebook, I finally got up the courage to just do it and have him go off them cold turkey.  That first morning was rough. He rummaged through all the places his pacifiers were normally kept, and when he couldn't find them he kicked and screamed. Eventually the wailing  crying stopped and after he learned how to take a nap without one that day and then how to fall asleep that night, he finally woke up the next morning cured of his binky addiction!

As you can see he doesn't even remember them now.
 Binky? What's that?

Lake Lowell

Apparently there is a lake that is really close to where we live now. Matt's friend Kyle in California reminded me of its existence when he googled our new address and saw it. The whole time I grew up here I only remember going to it once when I went boating with friends. Lucky Peak was always closer so we would usually go there, but now Lake Lowell in Nampa is just a 15 minute drive.
First we stopped by the visitors center where they have a little kids corner with birds that whistle their unique song when you squeeze them. Sawyer was pretty fond of this particular bird.

Then Matt tried to help him color, but Sawyer was more interested in taking all the crayons out of the bucket and putting back in then he was in actually using them.

He gave this little dead stuffed creature a pet or two.
 Hand sanitizer, anyone??

It was the perfect weather to go the lake. In the 80's with a nice breeze. We were both surprised at the lack of people that were there considering what a warm day it was.

I hadn't anticipated us actually going for a swim, hence the lack of swim suits.

And some mere toe dipping wasn't enough to satisfy this little water bug. Oh no, he wanted to go ALL the way in.

His diaper soaked up all the water and was a good 5 pounds once I took it off of him. After he was completely drenched we just him down in the water with his shovel to scoop up all the sand rocks. He had a great time, wore himself out, and now we are all about taking a lazy Saturday afternoon nap.

Can't forget this photo.
 Now that's just embarrassing.

Our First Party

Well, we finally did it! We had people over to our casa! Due to our prolonged colds and lack of furnishings we hadn't invited anyone over yet, unless they wanted to sit on the floor.  But since my parents had just returned from their three month stay in Australia we wanted to see them and it just so happened the Saturday after they were back was my Aunt Linda's birthday. Perfect time for a partay! We had a baked potato bar for dinner with toppings like asparagus, caramelized onions, chili, chives, the works. Definitely going to do that again next time we have anyone over for dinner. It was a hit and super easy.

Then with full bellies we went for a stroll through the neighborhood over to the creek and the railroad tracks.  I've been running there in the morning with Sawyer so he can watch the trains go by and it's one of my very favorite spots.

There's a park near there too that Sawyer ran around in like a crazy man. Good thing cousin Sam was there to chase after him!

What timing! A train went by while we were in the park. Sawyer scans the whole thing every time we see one. I suspect he's looking for Thomas to be hidden in there among the boxcars somewhere.

Photo opp under the willow tree!

And what's a birthday post without a photo of the one whose birthday we were celebrating?!  Thanks for coming over everyone. Hope you had a fantastic birthday Linda!
and if not, don't tell me since you spent with us! :)
