The Magnificent Seven

October 1st we celebrated Sawyer Emmett turning 7!
He decided he wanted a birthday at the Lego Store again for the third year in a row. The past two birthdays have been awesome there, but I was thinking he would want to branch out and do something different. Guess not! We decided on a Star Wars lego theme and sent out some invites to his friends. A lot of his friends have younger siblings that Sawyer also plays with so we invited three sets of siblings.

My parents were out of town and Rosie had a convention to go that morning, but was able to stop by for a little bit which was nice.  Steve was able to stay for most of the party and kept Scout entertained playing with her little girly lego set with her. Wish I would have gotten a video of that, it was super cute.

All the kids listening to directions and waiting to be set free to go pick which lego set they wanted to build.

Ready, Set, Build!

His party was from 10-12 so it wasn't quite lunch and the year before when we did pizza it ended up being a little too messy. Hard to build legos with greasy fingers! This year we decided to do non-messy finger foods and I found some awesome printable Star Wars labels online.

His cake with some of his Star Wars toys on top and seven sparkler candles.

Pretzels dipped in white chocolate.

Star Wars cheez-its.

Star Wars gummies.

Scout was really into building her own lego set this year. She picked one out with a horse and was engrossed in playing with it for almost the whole two hours.

Sawyer picked out a technic lego set that was ages 10 and above so it was more difficult. He did a great job of putting it together with help from his dad.

Scout with her friend Max. He is seven, almost eight, but is so sweet to her and she adores him!

Opening presents from all his friends.

It was a very fun morning and Sawyer had a great time with all his friends. I am dumbfounded that he is seven already, although sometimes I think I treat him as if he is older. I have to remind myself that he is just a little kid and to not expect so much of him. He tries really hard to please us and for the most part is considerate of his little sister. He has really developed a sense of humor lately and likes to joke all the time, although we have had to have some conversations about the difference between joking (meaning it should be funny) and lying. He really likes Minecraft, playing with legos, doing puzzles, coloring, writing in his school journal, reading Ready Freddy books, watching old school 90's Goosebumps videos on Netflix, riding his bike, swimming, playing with Hot Wheels cars and making them crash into each other all while making extremely loud crashing sounds effects, and he is a very talented artist and likes making crafts.

1.
Who is your child’s best friend? Ryker from his first grade class.
  1. What color would your child like their room to be? Right now his room is gray with white stripes which he likes.
  2. Who is your child’s greatest hero? Probably Diamond Steve from Minecraft since he talks about him ALL the time.
  3. What embarrasses your child the most? Being the center of attention. He really doesn't like it when strangers talk to him. We have had many a conversation about how he needs to acknowledge someone when they ask him a question or say hello and that he can't just ignore people and pretend they aren't there. It's almost like he thinks if I don't answer, they will think I'm not here.
  4. What is your child’s biggest fear? Being anywhere alone.
  5. In gym, would your child rather play basketball, do exercises, or run? Run. He is in the Walking Club at school where they walk each Tuesday and Thursday around the track and get sticks to collect for each lap they do.
  6. What is your child’s favorite kind of music? Pop music.
  7. What person outside the family has most influenced your child’s life? His current first grade teacher has had a great impact on him. He really loves reading and writing now and was recently selected for a Respect Award so we get to go to an assembly where they present the kids were certificates.
  8. What are your child’s favorite and least favorite subjects in school? Favorite is free choice where they get to choose to write in their journal or read. His least favorite is computer.
  9. Of what accomplishment is your child the proudest? He is really proud of the 100% he gets on his spelling test at the end of each week.
  10. What is your child’s biggest complaint about the family? That we don't let him play his iPad during the week.
  11. What is your child’s favorite TV show? Goosebumps.
  12. What sport does your child most enjoy? He wants to do Parkour so we are enrolling him in that this March. I think he would be really great at swimming, wrestling, and basketball, but he doesn't want to do any of those.
  13. If you could buy your child anything in the world, what would be your child’s first choice? A battery operated car he could ride in. He has wanted one of those things for years now!
  14. Who is your child’s favorite teacher? Ms. Karla Davis, his current teacher.
  15. What really makes your child angry? When we take his iPad away or Scout takes his toys.
  16. Does your child feel liked by the children at school? I think so. Tons of kids know his name and always say bye after school. I will ask him who they are and he usually says he doesn't know. Scout on the other hand can name every single kid at her daycare :)
  17. What would your child like to be when he/she grows up? He stills wants to be a paleontologist.
  18. Does your child feel too small or too big for his/her age? I don't think he is either. He seems pretty average in height and build.
  19. What gift from you does your child cherish most? Bunky, his stuffed ant eater.
  20. What would be your child’s choice for a vacation: a camping trip, a visit to a big city, or a boat trip? A visit to a big city He always asks to go to downtown Boise because he like the big buildings.
  21. Which chore does your child dislike most: clear the table, cleaning their room or taking out the trash? Clearing the table.
  22. What non-school book has your child most recently read? Ready Freddy books.
  23. What is your child’s favorite family occasion? Going on dates with mom or dad individually.
  24. What foods does your child like or dislike most? Likes chocolate croissants, dislikes pretty much every single vegetable and fruit.
  25. What nicknames is your child called in school? I don't think he has a nickname at school, but at home I still sometimes refer to him as Boo-Boo Bear and Soyboy.
  26. When does your child prefer to do homework: right after school, after supper, before bedtime? Usually right after school.
  27. Which would your child prefer to have as a pet: a cat, dog, bird or fish? He doesn't like dogs unless they are tiny ones, doesn't particularly like cats because he is allergic to them so he would probably more into getting a fish.
  28. What is your child’s most prized possession? Definitely Bunky!

5TH BIRTHDAY

6TH  BIRTHDAY

7TH BIRTHDAY

Wedding Date

Two weeks Matt and I were able to sneak away to a friends wedding. My friend Brennen from nursing school married her long time boyfriend and it was so fun to get to see her and all my old nursing friends. We've been out of school for almost two and a half years now and went from seeing each other practically every day to barely once or twice a year!

I found the perfect dress with long sleeves the day before at The Loft because the wedding was going to be outside and it was going to be breezy and cool. Before our babysitter arrived Scout and I had a mini photo shoot.

All my friends at the reception while we waited for the bride to arrive after the ceremony.

Matt and I all dressed up. Had to take a photo to document because this does not happen very often!

Group photo of all of us with the beautiful bride!
