Couch Potatoes

I started noticing a trend in a lot of my photos.   That trend was a certain piece of furniture. It kept popping up all over the place. And not just our own tan colored piece, but also our relative's, friends, and past residences as well; floral ones, leather ones, green, brown and cream colored ones. Apparently I don't discriminate. Now I would like to think that this certain piece of furniture is in mine and our pictures rather often, not because a) we are lazy or b) we watch an incessant amount of television, but rather that we like cozy places to sit and they make a good backdrop for photos to be taken while sitting on.

I did some researching and the most favorable definition for what it seems that I have always been and now we are together is.....

A Couch Potato - A couch Potato is not a type of vegetable, nor is it a kind of couch. It is a person. This person is one who is fixated on a piece of furniture. (for more fascinating info on this subject click here)

When it all began.  Propped all my stuffed animals up for their first photo shoot. Man do I miss those Garfield slippers.

Ben, Megan and I all sick before going to church. (We all have thermometers in our mouths.) Funny thing is, I think I was the only one who really was sick.

In the living room (or is it the family room? what's the difference again Mom?) just doing what big sisters do best.

Bryson and I trying out the new leather couch, making sure it was sturdy enough for monkeying around on.

Taking my new tricks to college with me and showing the roomies there how it's done.

At a wedding. Either the couch was crooked and we all slipped to one side or we liked being smooshed.

When Kim came down to Cali to visit right before my wedding.

Much needed necessity for those who love sitting on couches....blankets. The more the better.

Christmas 2007 at the cabin in McCall. VERY comfy couch as I recall.

Enter floral couch again. Saying hello the Howell way to my sister Megan when I came to visit last summer.

Mom, me and Bry. It seems my dad isn't a couch participator. He's the only one who is missing out on all the action in these pics.  Perhaps because he would rather be sitting on a motorcycle or snowmobile.

Even Aunt Rosie and Uncle Steve's dog baseball loves her some couch relaxation time.

Matt showing off his massive blister on his finger after changing our blown up tire on our way to Arizona. He also had heat exhaustion while doing it since it was 110 degrees out and almost passed out on me! He earned his rights for couch time here.

Izzy when she comes to play. This is when we like her best. She has the most energy I have ever seen from such a tiny little creature. Takes HOURS to wear her out!

My favorite place to sit. It's a little tight on our love seat sofa,  but we like each other so it works out well.

And for the grand finale. Looks nice doesn't it? Go take a little snooze on your couch.....You know you want to :)

A day in the life of the Kprows

5:45 AM
Matt loads his bike onto the back of his car. I load my car up with my book bag, gym bag, breakfast, lunch and dinner bags. I am fast becoming a bag lady.

5:50 AM
Hit the road together in Matt's car to go to the train station. Listen to my good friend Ryan Seacrest on 102.7 and call in every minute to try and win something....win anything for that matter. Hasn't happened yet.

6:00 AM
Drop Matt off so he and his bike can board the train. Bid farewell, tell him to be good and not get run over by any cars on his bike ride home at the end of the day. So far he's accomplished that thank goodness.

7:15AM
Matt usually arrives to work right about now where he starts his day of designing and putting together music books.

8:15 AM
I arrive at work where I work with these beautiful, funny people pictured above.

(I work all day for a cardiologist in the front office and also the back office lately where I get to do EKG's and work with the patients.)

4:00 PM
Matt gets off of work and rides his bicycle home.

5:00 PM
I get off work and go straight over here to Moorpark College where I have a Physiology class at night.

9:00 PM
Get home from school and say hello to Matt after a long day of not seeing each other. Pictured here is the way I say hello by tickling. He loves it. Don't let the look of terror on his face fool you.

9:30 PM
In bed already and fast asleep, guaranteed. We aren't ashamed that our bedtime is as early as this eighty year old couple pictured above because we cherish our whole 8 hours of sleep, sometimes 9 if we're lucky.  That 5:15 alarm comes quick and before you know it, it's time to start the whole days process all over again!

Shake, Rattle and Roll

I totally forgot to blog about the most exciting thing that happened two weeks ago. I started my new job working the front desk for a cardiologist at Los Robles hospital and it was my second day there learning the ropes. The office is on the third floor and I was standing there talking with two of the other girls who were sitting down at the time. All of a sudden one of the girls said there was an earthquake going on. I hadn't noticed, but as soon as she mentioned that I started hearing everything begin to rattle and noticed the floor starting doing a little dance underneath my feet. It was so surreal! It was pretty slow at first and then there was a sudden big jerky kind of shake and one of the girls grabbed my hand at that point. It kept going on and on and on, which I thought was pretty weird since I heard normally they are only a couple of seconds long. The best part of the experience was that during that whole thing I was laughing. Yep, uncontrollably laughing. It was such a weird feeling having the building and floor move about that I couldn't help it! My manager (who has grown up in california) was almost in tears and kept saying "it's not funny! stop laughing, it's not funny!" Finally it stopped and as soon as it did everyone hit up the news websites to see what magnitude it was. At first they reported it as a 5.6 and then it was later dropped to a 5.4. It wasn't even close to being a big one, but the news made it sound like a real doozy. Even in Idaho it was all over the news so my mom and brother Bryson were pretty worried cuz I guess they tried calling me a couple time and the line was busy! They were picturing all of California in rubble thanks to the news being overly dramatic! So I am officially a Californian now, having survived my first real earthquake. Hopefully that little one wasn't a precursor for the big guy that is supposedly bound to happen one of these days according to CNN

Happy 28th Year to Mattarooski

Matt turned 28 at 9:36 p.m. this past Tuesday. Exactly as the second hand on the clock hit that sixth minute he looked a whole year older and wiser!  I wanted to do something special for his birthday cuz you know you only turn 28 once in your life so I baked him a double layer chocolatey chocoholic  concoction of a cake and even let him eat a slice on his birthday eve. The next day after I dropped him off at the train station before work I came back home and decorated the apartment at lightspeed before I jetted off to work as well. Thank you dollar store for all your cheap birthday decorations! His birthday theme was Finding Nemo (hence why they were all at the dollar store since that movie is like 5 years old now). I got him a card and a mug that I decorated and you can see my attempt at decorating the apartment in the pics below. The whole thing was pretty fishy. Literally.

Right when he walked in the door after riding home on his bike. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
My somewhat presentable cake. The little nubbins all around it are flower cupcakes. Not a very manly cake, but cute.

August 5

You have many talents, and you are great at sharing those talents with others.
Most people would be jealous of your clever intellect, but you're just too likeable to elicit jealousy.
Progressive and original, you're usually thinking up cutting edge ideas.
Quick witted and fast thinking, you have difficulty finding new challenges.

I found that on-line about people whose birthday is August 5 and it is Matt to a T! He is incredibly intelligent, yet never makes me feel silly even in my blonde moments when I ask dumb questions...and there are a lot of them! A lot of things come easy to him like working with numbers, but he was still so incredibly patient with me last semester when I had to take Chemistry and couldn't remember even basic Algebra! He spent hours at night helping me get the hang of it. One of the things too that really attracted me to him when we first met was his quick witted sense of humor. He's always making me laugh  and knows he's really on a roll when I snort. That's what he likes to refer to as the "piggly wigglies coming out" And once they are out, there's no going back!  He is extremely talented at graphic design and recently used his talents to make my sister Megan's wedding invitation. I was amazed at what he created! Here is what my handsome hubby made and I have to show it off because I think he did such an incredible job!
