Jonas

Did I mention before that this past winter was long and cold and very, very long and cold? I know I am not the only one that just wanted to crawl into bed for a long winters nap and wake up when the sun was out again. To brighten our spirits we did what any sane person would do.....get a puppy! We had actually be looking at getting a dog for awhile for a number of reasons, but didn't want to until :

a) we had done enough research to be sure of what breed we wanted.

b) the kids were older and Scout was potty trained.

Matt was the researcher and settled in on getting a French Bulldog, Scout just turned 3 in March and has been potty trained for over a year now so we decided now was as good a time as any. I took care of a couple at work who were raving about their Frenchie and how good it was with their child, how calm they are, how they love companionship, and don't need a lot of exercise. Win, win! They said the only downfall was that they snore and fart. And with that I knew a Frenchie with fit right in at our house. :)

That same couple recommended a breeder who turned out to live just down the road from us! So we went to just 'look' at the puppies they had available and of course looking always means you will come home with one and indeed we did.

Meet Jonas. Or JoJo. Or Donuts, which is what his name sounds like when Scout says it.

Taking Jo-Jo home.

Giving him lot of hugs and kisses.

French bulldog ears stick straight up, but JoJo had one ear that was floppy, which is how he stole our hearts when we saw him. He is a mellow dog and the first month he was home he just slept most of the time.

Our kids used to be afraid of dogs, which is one of the reasons we wanted to get one. They have bonded with him really well though and say all the time that he is the best dog ever and as Scout says "just so so cute!".  I also like that it teaches them to be kind to things that are smaller than they are and responsibility by having to feed him every day. They each take turns on who gets to feed him in the morning, usually whoever races to his dog food bin first.

Shhhhh, he is sleeping. Again.

Watching Moana together.

More photos of him sleeping.

Taking a nap with Scout.

And snuggling with Matt, who is definitely Jonas's person. I think the bonding between both of them was pretty immediate. If you come over to our house you will usually see Matt carrying Jonas around like a baby, but don't tell him I said that ;)

So far we have loved the new addition to our family, the new carpet may say otherwise, but thankfully we've almost rounded the potty training corner with him.

And since Scout's name was going to be Jonas if she were a boy, we finally got use our boy name :) And like I had to tell our veterinarian, he's a Weezer kind of Jonas, not a Jonas brothers kind.
