Rosie and Steve Week

Two weeks ago Matt's Aunt Rosie and Uncle Steve came in to Boise to visit us. They've been camping a few years in a row now up at Couer d'Alene, but had never ventured farther down south to Boise.  Now that we live here, they had a reason to! We had a ton of fun showing them all our favorite places.  The following photos are some of my favorites of all the ones we took while they were here:

One day we went up to Robie Creek which is part of Lucky Peak Lake. We'd never been there before, but had heard that is was a fun spot. Indeed, it was! There were only a few people there when we arrived and they ended up leaving soon after so we had the whole place to ourselves! We had a BBQ picnic that Uncle Steve grilled up for us. It was about 7-ish when we got there so after eating we were able to play just as it was starting to cool off as the sun went down. That's my absolute favorite time of day because the light is so beautiful!

Sawyer had a blast playing in the water. The lake water was the perfect temperature and was shallow pretty far out so he could just walk around. 

 Another day we drove up to McCall. We introduced Rosie and Steve to the insanely good peanut butter shakes at "My Fathers Place" and also their delicious nut burger! This photo was right after we had devoured lunch and were about to walk around the town. We (as in Rosie and I) checked some really fun decor shops while Matt, Steve and Sawyer ventured on down to the lake. We were hoping Soy boy would take a long nap while we walked around town, but such was not the case. Instead we decided we'd take him down the beach and wear him out playing in the sand.

He had fun digging for a while, but then mostly wanted to lay on the towels in the grass next to Steve and eat all their snacks just like their dog Gadget likes to do! We were teasing Sawyer that he and Gadget were cousins and he got the nickname Sawyer dog. Haha, he loved it and for the first time made woof, woof sounds like a dog. That's the first time he has start mimicking animal sounds! Ever since then he's been on a roll

and can do cat, cow, sheep and pig sounds now too. 

Matt took him out on the dock a few times to look at the boats.  Luckily he's really good about holding hands, but regardless a lifejacket is at the top of shopping list for next time. 

 After the beach we drove them to my parents cabin in McCall-which was being rented out at the time so we couldn't go inside-and then made the trek over to Gold Fork Hot Springs. Trek is pretty accurate since it's a dirt road that winds back into the mountains and just when you think it's a road leading to nowhere you finally see the Gold Fork Hot Springs sign! We soaked in those for almost two hours before heading home. And after relaxing in the hot water, playing at the beach, downing a whole grilled cheese sandwich and ice-cream, you would think Sawyer dog would have conked out on the drive home, right? Yea that was wishful thinking. He was awake the entire day! Zero, zilch, nada, naps. It made for one very interesting ride, but thankfully Rosie and Steve were fine with his extreme loudness. We are still trying to work on what a 'library voice' sounds like. We've got a ways to go on implementing that one!

We had a great week while they were here and it just went by way too fast! I had written on the calendar a ton of outdoor things for us to do, but we only made it through about half the list. They bid farewell on Saturday night and early Sunday morning continued on their way up to Couer d'Alene as we got ready for another wave of visitors to come through town.  Here's a photo Sawyer took of himself  which accurately portrays his excitement at having people come see him!
